3-day training on gender discrimination, women's rights and access to non-discriminatory services for women

The three-day training program that started from 1st May 2024 to 3rd May 2024, addressing gender discrimination, women's rights, and access to non-discriminatory services has left an indelible mark on all participants involved, igniting a profound and transformative journey towards empowerment and social change. Throughout the duration of the program, participants were immersed in a dynamic and engaging learning environment, where they delved deep into the multifaceted issues of gender inequality and GBV dynamics. The inaugural day set the tone for the training with a thoughtful pre-test, providing valuable insights into the participants' existing knowledge base and serving as a benchmark for measuring progress. Executive Director Ms. Ranju Pandey and Project Manager Ms. Neha Das, through their articulate introduction, not only elucidated the overarching goals of the project but also instilled a sense of purpose and commitment among the beneficiaries, laying a solid foundation for the days ahead.

During the interactive session on expectations, participants seized the opportunity to articulate their aspirations and concerns, showcasing the diversity of perspectives and the pressing need for comprehensive interventions. The subsequent introductions fostered a sense of community and solidarity within the group, with personal narratives serving as powerful reminders of the lived experiences underpinning the issues at hand. Gender Specialist Ms. Surya Laxmi Bajracharya's insightful exposition on gender and sexuality challenged participants to deconstruct binary gender norms, sparking introspection and dialogue. As discussions unfolded, participants bravely shared their experiences, underscoring the transformative potential of collective action and solidarity in addressing systemic inequalities.

A poignant exploration of patriarchy facilitated by Ms. Surya Bajracharya provided participants with a deeper understanding of power dynamics and systemic inequalities, highlighting the imperative of collective resistance and advocacy in fostering gender-equitable societies. The day culminated in a comprehensive overview of HIV/AIDS and sexual violence, emphasizing the interconnectedness of health and gender rights and the urgent need for holistic interventions.

The second day commenced with a reflective recapitulation, allowing participants to assimilate key insights and experiences from the previous day's discussions. Testimonials underscored the profound impact of the training on individual well-being, affirming the transformative potential inherent in collective learning and dialogue. A comprehensive introduction to gender-based violence (GBV) deepened participants' engagement with key themes, paving the way for thought-provoking discussions and interactive group activities. Through a dynamic exploration of GBV's causes and implications, participants confronted the pervasive nature of violence and its far-reaching consequences on individual well-being and societal cohesion.

The third and final day commenced with a deliberate recapitulation of preceding days' discussions, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the complexities surrounding gender-based violence and women's rights. A session led by legal expert Ms. Bishnu Pokharel shed light on intricate legal frameworks and rights enshrined for women, empowering participants to navigate legal systems and advocate for justice and equality. Thought-provoking discussions on recent legal reforms and financial independence for women underscored the imperative of systemic change and collective action in dismantling oppressive structures.

Throughout the training, participants were provided with tools for self-reflection, transformative growth, and empowerment. Counseling sessions, behavior change communication workshops, and access to service facilities equipped participants with practical skills and resources for supporting survivors of GBV and promoting gender equality within their communities.

In conclusion, the three-day training program has laid a solid foundation for continued advocacy, activism, and transformative change in the pursuit of gender equality and the eradication of GBV. With a renewed sense of purpose and determination, participants depart with enriched perspectives and a commitment to apply their newfound knowledge and skills in advancing gender equality and social justice within their communities and beyond.
