On December 11, Setu Nepal organized a Community Awareness Program in Ramgram, Nawalparasi District, Nepal, which brought community members together for an open discussion on gender-based violence (GBV), HIV/AIDS, and legal rights. The program aimed to strengthen the community's understanding of these issues and encourage dialogue about the challenges faced by women and vulnerable groups.
During the session, participants discussed different forms of gender-based violence and learned about available support services such as the One Stop Crisis Management Center, which provides integrated assistance for survivors. The discussion also focused on reducing stigma related to HIV and promoting greater awareness about rights and available support systems.
Community members actively shared their experiences and perspectives, highlighting several challenges faced by women in their daily lives. These included limited awareness of legal rights, misconceptions about HIV transmission, early marriage practices, restricted mobility for women, and the pressures created by financial dependence and social expectations.
The open discussions helped identify important knowledge gaps within the community while encouraging greater engagement in addressing gender-based violence and supporting survivors through awareness, dialogue, and collective action.
