Learning Photography at Aarati Home

Recently, Aarati Home was filled with bright, continuous flashes of light as the children gathered for the photography lessons!

Under the guidance of our wonderful volunteer, Amélie, the children enthusiastically explored the world of photography. They learned the basics of camera operation, experimented with different settings, and discovered how technical adjustments can help capture moments more effectively. An important part of the session also focused on photography ethics, emphasizing the importance of seeking consent before taking someone's picture.

After wrapping up the theoretical lessons, the children split into two passionate groups to put their new skills to the test. One group headed outdoors with cameras in hand, eager to apply what they had learned in a real-world setting. Meanwhile, the other group stayed indoors to brainstorm creative ways to showcase their favorite memories, immediately beginning work on a vibrant new photo wall for their home.

More than just teaching technical skills, it encouraged self-expression, observation, and confidence- allowing the children to see the world through a new lens.

The photography workshop was indeed full of learning, smiles, and just the right amount of joyful chaos.
