Through the Nepal Rapid Action Team (NRAT), mobilised by SETU Nepal (Midway Nepal) together with our consortium partners, we have completed training for three separate batches of volunteer responders.
These volunteers were trained in Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) and Humanitarian Assistance to help communities stay strong and supported during difficult times.
Our 3 Phases of Volunteer Mobilization
Building a strong community response takes step-by-step planning and teamwork. Here is how our three phases came together:
Phase 1 & 2: Building Skills & Field Action
Our first two batches built the groundwork for our team. Volunteers took part in hands-on training to prepare for work on the ground. They then put their skills into action in key areas, including Bidur Municipality Ward-3, delivering essential care and emotional support to people in need.
Phase 3: Work Camp Orientation & Expanding Our Reach
Following the success of the first two groups, SETU Nepal and NRAT held the Work Camp Third Batch Volunteer Orientation on September 17th, 2026. This session prepared our newest group for upcoming deployments in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
Led by trainers Dr. Pranav Karmacharya and Grishma Paneru, Phase 3 focused on practical exercises, basic physical aid, and stress management so every volunteer feels ready for the field.
Key Skills Learned by Our Volunteers
Volunteers across all three batches trained in core areas to handle real-world challenges:
- Psychosocial First Aid (PFA): Learning how to listen, offer comfort, and support people dealing with crisis and emotional distress.
- Humanitarian Assistance: Understanding basic emergency response, safety rules, and resource sharing.
- Community Support: Working directly with local communities using clear communication and care.
