On September 23, 2026, the first batch of Community Work Volunteers arrived in Nuwakot, marking the start of an important two-week mission under the Nepal Rapid Action Team (NRAT).
Over the next 15 days, these volunteers will work closely with the local community, focusing on both immediate emotional support and long-term recovery. Their activities include:
- One-to-one Psychological First Aid (PFA) — offering personalized emotional support to those affected
- School sessions and child-focused activities — creating safe, engaging spaces for children
- Community meetings and capacity-building workshops — equipping residents with tools for lasting resilience
- Engagement with Child Clubs and Youth Clubs — strengthening support systems already in place for young people
- Other community-based activities tailored to local needs
The mission goes beyond addressing physical or immediate needs — it's about nurturing psychosocial well-being and helping children, young people, and families rebuild a sense of stability and hope after the recent crisis.
This work is made possible through collaboration, bringing together NRAT, SPW Urjaa Nepal, Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN), Community Development CDS, and other local partners. Together, they represent a united effort to ensure that no one in Nuwakot has to face recovery alone.
As the days unfold, the hope is that this initiative will leave a lasting mark — not just in addressing the crisis itself, but in strengthening the community's capacity to support one another for years to come.
