Six months have flown by since Amélie arrived in Kathmandu, and as her volunteering journey with SETU Nepal ends, she leaves behind a proud legacy of dedication in a place that became her second home. Working alongside a team entirely dedicated to empowering women and children, she managed office administrative tasks, and designed communication materials. Her impact extended far beyond the office walls into hands-on agricultural and community projects at the farmhouse, where she harvested winter cauliflower, built compost, and shared festive moments with the resilient children.
This journey also allowed Amélie to fully immerse herself in the vibrant tapestry of local culture and create lifelong memories across Nepal. She experienced the unmatched warmth of her incredible host family, found peace during a monastery yoga retreat, mastered rolling circle rotis for a family Puja, and trekked to the snow-covered heights of Mardi Himal Basecamp at 4,200 meters. From an unexpected surprise birthday party on Nepali New Year's Eve to studying sustainable agriculture at ICIMOD’s Living Mountain Lab, her time was defined by a constant desire to learn and give back.

As her final days concluded with a soothing singing bowl healing session and a farewell gathering, Amélie packed her bags for Luxembourg, carefully squeezing in a traditional stone silauta mortar for her mother. She extends her deepest thanks to the SETU Nepal staff for their creative trust, to ONGD-FNEL for making this connection possible, and to her host family for their unwavering care. Most of all, her heart remains with the wonderful Aarati children, whose laughter and beautiful spirits ensure that this farewell is just the beginning of a lifelong bond with Nepal.
