On the special occasion of the Didi Program organized by the Rukmani Foundation, an important awareness session was held focusing on Gender-Based Violence. The event aimed to educate and inspire young leaders, reminding them of their powerful role in shaping a safer and more respectful society.
The session brought attention to the small but harmful actions we often ignore—like uncomfortable touch, inappropriate language, and harmful stereotypes. These incidents happen in schools, public places, and even offices, yet many of us stay silent because of fear, shame, or social pressure. The speakers stressed that such silence allows violence to grow, especially against women and teenagers.

The discussion also reflected on how Nepal’s deep-rooted traditions and cultural beliefs, passed down through generations, sometimes unknowingly support discrimination and unfair treatment. Many of these customs go unquestioned, but they continue to affect both men and women in negative ways.
This awareness program encouraged everyone to recognize and challenge these hidden forms of violence. It reminded the youth that creating a safe, kind, and equal community begins with small actions, open conversations, and the courage to stand up for what is right.
On the ending remark the guest speaker for Didi program ,Executive director of Setu Nepal Mrs.Ranju Pandey share her journey ,her lifestyle her and how every small incidents shaped her life and made her who she is today.
Let’s come together to build a society where respect, understanding, and equality are the norm for all.
