Her husband was killed by the security force during the Teej Festival in 2003. This festival is very popular in Nepal where the married women fast for whole day not even drinking a drop of water for their husband’s long life. Madhu was also fasting for her husband’s long life but unfortunately she lost her husband on the same day.
One neighbor who he had fallen out with and had problems turned out to be the RNA (Royal Nepalese Army) informer maneuvered the RNA into the village by giving a false tip-off that Maoist rebels have sheltered and are feasting in the village. The soldiers came to village and shot so many innocent villagers and one of them was Madhu’s husband. This happened in the year 2003. Not even the state helped nor gave her any compensation. At last she approached SETU Nepal through the help of one of the organization called SEED (Society for Environment Education Development) which works for the environment and children educational support in Dang district.
SETU Nepal gave Madhu Nepali two months training a pig farming on the basis of her interest and capability. She returned to the village and opened a pig farm. She ran pig farm for two years. But later she found better opportunity to earn more money so she left pig farming and now she is in one of the middle east country to work their as lobourer.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
