A One-Day Psychosocial Support Session was recently held for flood-affected persons with disabilities from different wards of Nuwakot, offering much-needed emotional and practical support during a difficult time.
The session focused on:
- Psychological First Aid (PFA)
- Active listening
- Emotional support
- Stress management
- Healthy coping strategies
Many of the participants were persons with visual impairments, and some had lost their homes to the flood. Providing accessible, dedicated psychosocial support for this group was especially important, as persons with disabilities often face added barriers when accessing recovery services after a disaster.
This session was made possible through the valuable local coordination and support of the Nuwakot Handicapped Welfare Organization, whose community trust and commitment to inclusion helped ensure the session truly reached those who needed it most.
Moments like these are a reminder that meaningful recovery means making sure every member of the community — including those often overlooked — receives care, compassion, and support.
