Appeal for Higher level education Support
Sapana Shrestha from Imadol, Lalitpur is a 52 years old single mother living with her daughter Pratibha Shrestha. 20 years ago Sapana got married to Prithvi Raj Shrestha who used to work as a plumber. Their life was going on well but as a bitter reality he got involved in drugs and alcohol. Thus, after about 6 years of marriage he was diagnosed with HIV. His health condition deteriorated day by day and died 8 years ago with HIV and TB history. Husband’s death added more traumas in her life and she felt helpless as she was left with her daughter alone with no any financial basis for their livelihood. After his death, Sapana too started having health problems and on medical check-up she too was diagnosed with HIV which shattered her physical as well as psychological strength.
After the death of husband, she worked in sweet shops, wood carving etc. but could not continue due to physical as well as psychological inefficacy. After six months of psychological and nutrition support with close monitoring from SETU Nepal now she is able to do her household chore. In spite of that, affording a healthy and nutritious diet for Sapana and her 17 years old daughter Pratibha is not her cup of tea which has worsened her condition more and more. For her healthy living, she is in high need of financial support as she already bears a huge burden of loans and is living in a cracked house after earthquake. Among these bunch of challenges in her life the only fortune for her is that she has a supportive daughter (Pratibha) with HIV negative who recently completed her schooling with good scores (2.85GPA,B+grade) in her Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
Because of her weak financial condition, SETU had been sponsoring for Pratibha’s education since last two years. Pratibha, as responsible daughter is now in greater worry for her further education in Higher Secondary grades (10+2).
We hope to provide both of them with the secure future through financial support for her further Education and livelihood. In addition, restoring her lost hope and psychological strength is our major target for which we expect assistance from our well-wishers.
