On September 2, 2026, the SETU Nepal team, along with National College, went to Tupche, Nuwakot, to deliver relief kits to families hit by the floods.
It was not an easy trip. The main road is damaged, and the Trishuli bridge has been destroyed. This has cut off families on either side, and many still cannot get the help or healthcare they need. Because of heavy rain and slippery roads, the team had to stay overnight in a safer part of Nuwakot before returning the next day.
Since the initial plan included a health camp, the medical team remained on the ground assessing conditions. Plans for psychosocial counselling and play activities for children had to be postponed due to time constraints and unforeseen circumstances.
Observation: The area remains high-risk with continuous rainfall, and residents are still focused on immediate survival rather than secondary support.
One woman from the community shared what the flood has taken from them:
"All of ours are gone. People that we knew, the community we shared, the bazar we had, the value we hold, all of us are now just memories."
Her words say what statistics cannot. This is not only about roads and bridges — it's about a community, a market, and a way of life that is now gone.
What's Next
The response is now moving into Phase II, focused on temporary shelter and other recovery needs. Setu Nepal continues to work with the Team to bring in more volunteers and provide relief kits.
