Her husband Ramkumar Nepali was killed by the security force while celebrating Teej Festival in 2003. This festival is especially for the married woman. Suntali was also fasting for her husband’s long life but the God became so cruel that Suntali lost her husband in the same day.

One neighbor who he had fallen out with and who turned out to be the RNA informer maneuvered the RNA into the village by giving a false tip-off that Maoist rebels have sheltered and are feasting in the village. The soldiers came to village and shot so many innocent villagers and one of them was Ramkumar Nepali, Suntali’s husband. This was happened in the year 2003. Not even the state helped her or gave her compensation. At last she approached SETU Nepal through the help of one of the organization called SEED (Society for Environment Education Development) which works for the environment and children educational support.
