Ranjana, 10 years old
Ranjana was born in the small village of Nebuwatar in Makwanpur district. Shortly after her birth, her father, who was living with HIV, passed away. Ranjana and her mother were tested HIV positive too.
Under those circumstances their life was not easy. Ranjana‘s mother had limited education and resources and was left with her daughter and elderly mother-in-law. She struggled to provide even the most basic needs, such as proper nutrition and education. Facing stigma and social rejection, they had nowhere to return. Ranjana and her mother were referred to Setu, where they not only found shelter, but also dignity and support. At that time Ranjana was only two years old.
Now both are living in Aarati home and Ranjana recieves antiretroviral treatment, nutritious food, education and emotional care. Her mother found her purpose in being a caretaker and mother to all the children.
Rajana has blossomed into a bright and lively girl and shares a special bond with Urvashi. She is well-loved and known for her cheerful personality. She is studying in grade 5 and dreams of becoming a doctor.
