2082 -Teej Celebration at Setu Nepal Social Enterprises

August 22, 2025 – Setu Nepal marked this year’s Teej celebration with heartfelt gathering filled with joy, togetherness and empowerment. The day was alive with laughter, dance, music and games that brought everyone closer, creating moments of pure happiness. Total of 27 participants graced the celebration with their beauty, energy and strength, reminding us of the power of unity and sisterhood.

On the welcoming remark, Mrs. Ranju Pandey, Director of Setu Nepal, shed light on how certain cultural rituals, such as Rishi Panchami Puja, have historically discriminated against women. She highlighted that no practice carried out in the name of tradition should compromise women’s dignity and rights.

Following the flow Ms. Neha Das discussed health risks linked to fasting during Teej (Barta) without water. She encouraged women to protect their health and to pray not only for their family members but also for themselves.

The session also featured success stories from Setu Nepal’s beneficiaries. One participant shared how she began selling handmade key rings using seed money provided by the organization. She even sold 7–8 key rings during the program, inspiring others to see self-employment as a path to independence, confidence, and community involvement.

To keep the program lively, participants played engaging games such as musical chairs and cup arrangement challenges. These activities created a fun atmosphere and encouraged active participation. The day has passed by dancing, wearing mehendi.

One participant shared:
“Thankful to Setu Nepal for organizing this insightful session in the greenery of Changunarayan. I realized how even small practices in daily life can lead to discrimination. The event was both entertaining and inspiring, especially the story of a fellow participant who started her journey of self-employment.”

The awareness session highlighted the links between culture, health and gender inequality. It encouraged participants to celebrate Teej in more inclusive and empowering ways and to challenge traditions that harm women.

From twirling in sarees to sharing smiles and stories every corner was filled with love and bonding. This Teej wasn’t only about rituals—it was about cherishing womanhood, celebrating culture and creating memories that will stay with us forever.
