After decades long working experience with rural and deprived community of Nepal we SETU Nepal feel on one hand feel downhearted to witness many miserable scenarios of rural Nepal but on the other hand feel fortunate too, to have the opportunity to work with them and to work for them. As we know access to quality education is a primary factor for the development of any particular sector, throughout our working period we have closely examined every single component directly and indirectly linked to education status and scope more importantly in governmental school of rural areas. Amongst all, low economic status, poor school infrastructures, lack of awareness among the parents are the most serious problems to be battled so as to strengthen the governmental schools from its grass root level.
Thus, we have hereby initiated a "1 Rupees Campaign" for Child Education Movement.http://www.setunepal.org/involvedwithus/child-education-movement/ Every single dime thus collected from the movement will be genuinely vested on the strengthening programs of school. To link with our direct experience, as a post-earthquake nutrition program we initiated a school day meal program in two Primary Schools in western Lalitpur, in which we sponsored for the daily meal in school for the children to fulfill the nutritional need as well as to captivate them in the school. Though it was a short term program, with the active participation of the community and school management we are running it till date with the major contribution of parents rather than ours. To make the program sustainable and the parents accountable, we urged for the gradual financial contribution of the parents too and here today we have succeeded to make them self-realized about the importance of nutrition and education for their children lives. So, to gift them a healthy and conscious lifestyle rather than a short term aid is our major achievement. Our hopes more strengthened with this success, we are planning to make this campaign participatory with the programs like School Day Meal, School Kitchen Gardening, Parenting Education, School Staff Training for transforming teaching methodology and more on with our well-wisher's blessings and encouragement.With the school day meal program as an initiative one, it will serve as a foundation to launch other feasible programs as per the school need.
