Bipasha Gharti (Name changed)

Bipasha Gharti came to SETU Nepal when she was just four years old. Her father passed away when she was eight, and her mother now works as a laborer. Bipasha has a younger sister who lives with their mother. Thanks to the safe delivery support provided by SETU Nepal, her sister was born HIV-free.

Her Story:

Bipasha Gharti is from Makwanpur district and came to SETU Nepal with her mother, Santi, when she was just three years old. At the time, Bipasha was in a sick and anemic state. Santi had unknowingly married a man who already had a wife, and later discovered that both she and her daughter were HIV positive. Despite this revelation, she was unable to leave her husband due to her health condition and the intense social stigma surrounding HIV.

When Santi was nine months pregnant with her second daughter, she could no longer care for Bipasha. She sought help from SETU Nepal, where Bipasha received immediate shelter and medical treatment. Santi was referred to another organization for a safe delivery and continued care.

Bipasha later lost her father due to complications from opportunistic infections. Her mother now lives in their hometown with Bipasha’s younger sister. Because of her mother’s difficult financial situation, SETU Nepal has taken full responsibility for Bipasha’s upbringing, doing its best to meet all her basic needs—education, healthcare, nutrition, and emotional support.

We at SETU Nepal appeal to kind-hearted individuals and helping hands to support Bipasha’s journey toward a better and more secure future.

Current Status:

Bipasha now lives in Aarati Home and is currently studying in Grade 9. She has a strong passion for drawing and dreams of becoming an artist. Known for her excellent communication skills, Bipasha has formed strong friendships with the other children at SETU. She also maintains regular contact with her family to strengthen their bond, despite living apart. In the home, she serves as a caring and responsible guardian to the younger children.

Appeal:

We are deeply grateful to all well-wishers who are willing to support Bipasha in any form. Your contribution can ensure that she continues to grow in health, creativity, and confidence—and moves one step closer to achieving her dreams.
