Reconnecting to the soil, to heal ourselves and the Planet…
Exposure visits enable peoples from different regions to interact with and learn from each other, allowing them to view practical examples of successful integration of sustainable practices in different communities like their own.
On 15th September 2019, we organised an exposure visit for the 14 HIV positive women from Dang and Baglung district to “ICIMOD Knowledge Park” where they got opportunity to learn in detail about different forms of agriculture and new techniques of irrigation using locally available resources. These visits often instill a sense of purpose and enthusiasm among the people of rural areas as they are able to see, first hand, the results of adopting the local methods of farming. In addition to it, the participants also gained information about local production of bricked, kiwi farming, mushroom production, Pisciculture, utilization of solar energy etc. in the knowledge park.
Moreover, this kind of visits are not only beneficial for the people who are involved in the farming but also can bring positive result in the climate change issues.
"The risk of climate breakdown is real, but it can be reduced if we protect, restore and fund natural climate". SETU Nepal appreciates this concept of The Natural Climate Solutions ( https://www.naturalclimate.solutions/ ) and we have been providing a fruit plant as a gift to each of our participants from previous years as they can grow this plant not only as a memory of SETU Nepal but also to help reduce the climate change issues growing around the world.
Impression of participants towards visit and plant distribution....
“Fascinated by seeing how beautifully plants were grown on sloppy land and learnt about SALT method”
“Pouch plantations, utilization of waste materials as fertilizers, drip irrigation are the techniques which I will incorporate as soon as I return home”
