Summary: Garima was 5 years old and infected with HIV when she was rescued from Tanahun district of Nepal. After the death of her parents due to HIV, her older brother who was just 7 started working in a hotel. Garima’s health worsened day by day due to HIV. So, she was referred to SETU Nepal and her brother was kept in his relative while getting education support from SETU.
Garima was five when she was rescued from Tanahun district. She has an elder sibling. Unfortunately her parents died due to HIV because of lack of awareness, improper nutrition and lack of proper medical treatment. This small kid had lost her parents at such a tender age and her brother at the age of 7 started working in a hotel. With only an elder brother left as a family, her health started deteriorating day by day and with no one to look after her, she was referred by District Child Welfare to Setu Nepal on 7th March 2017.
Her health started getting better and she also got her basic necessities such as nutritious food, love, care and support in Setu. She has started to go to school and is doing extremely well in her academics. Despite being one of the youngest in the transit home, she is so disciplined and focused in her work. She is a very obedient and fun loving child and has easily established a sisterly bond with all the children in the transit home. Besides academics, she is doing well in other extra curricular activities as well. She is really good in painting and sketching and we are very proud of her.
