Summary: Ranjana Tamang is only two and a half years old and is living with her mother in SETU after the death of her father. She along with her mother came to SETU for the test and it was found that they were both HIV positive. Bearing the double trauma of losing her husband and not getting accepted by her family, Ranjana’s mother started living in SETU Nepal with her daughter as care taker of all other children.
Ranjana Tamang is only two and a half years old and was born in a small village called Nebuwatar in Makwanpur. She has been found to be HIV positive and also her father had been suffering from the illness and unfortunately has already lost his life shortly after the birth of his daughter.
The misery of her life didn’t stop there. Her family, being her 70 years old grandmother and her mother, lives at her birth place. They only have limited resources, as the mother got married at an early age, herself being diagnosed as HIV positive and didn’t have enough education to be able to afford basic needs such as an adequate nutrition and education for her daughter. Ranjana is currently staying in the Aarati House, where she receives treatment, shelter and a good nutrition so that she can grow strong. Her mother is working at SETU Nepal and takes care of all the children of Aarati House, taking the role of the mother of all the children of Aarti House. Setu Nepal is providing temporary residence to them. SETU Nepal tries its hardest to support Ranjana in the most effective way, so that she can have a good education and grow into an independent person. Ranjana is a talkative little girl and has a lot of love for all of her sisters, especially with Unnati she has already created a deep bond.She now goes to school and is doing very well in her academics.
Despite insufficient fund,we the family of Setu are trying our best to provide proper academics and nutrition to her. We would be greatly thankful and are appealing to all our well-wishers, donors and supporters to provide support to her to live a nutritious and healthy life which is the basic need of every child.
